Industries

Any role where the real expertise is judgment, not documentation: where the answer to a question is "just ask so-and-so" instead of "check the wiki." That's who OakHive is for, regardless of industry label.

  1. AviationThe logbook holds the rule. The mechanic holds the rest.
  2. FinanceEvery close has a line only one person can explain.
  3. HealthcareThe chart has the history. The front desk has the rest.
  4. Human ResourcesThe department that handles everyone's transitions rarely gets one.
  5. OperationsOperations doesn't run on the org chart.
  6. RetailThe real knowledge isn't in the manual.
  7. LegalThe case file keeps the filings. The partner keeps the playbook.
  8. LogisticsA dozen roles. One piece each. Nothing written down.
  9. Leadership & ManagementThe org chart survives. The instincts don't.
  10. SalesThe CRM shows what got typed in after the call.
  11. ManufacturingThe SOP says how it runs. The operator knows when it won't.
  12. EngineeringThe runbook has the steps. The engineer has the reasons.
  13. EducationThe scheme of work stays. The rest leaves with them.
  14. Public sectorThe procedure is written. The exceptions are not.

And much more

The industries above are the easiest ones to explain in a few sentences, the ones where everyone immediately sees why losing a person means losing more than a name on an org chart. They're examples, not boundaries.

What actually matters is whether someone at a company has been doing the same kind of work long enough that people go to them instead of a document, regardless of what industry that company happens to be in. A hotel general manager who knows exactly which vendor to call first during a power outage. A construction superintendent who knows which subcontractor actually shows up on schedule, and which one needs a reminder call the day before. Neither industry made the list above. Both fit the pattern exactly.

Every industry here started as a pattern, not a category. If yours isn't listed, the question is the same: is there someone your team goes to instead of a document? Ask about yours on the call

Thirty minutes, no deck. You describe something your team has explained more than once, and we show you what OakHive does with it.

We are taking on a small number of companies at a time, so this is a conversation rather than a signup.

We reply within two working days.

What you send reaches the people who read these themselves, and is used to reply to you and prepare for the conversation. It is kept for 24 months, is never sold, and never feeds an advertising system. There is none here. Privacy Policy.
